Paradi / What a Real First-Contact Message Would Look Like
If humanity ever sends a serious message, it should look less like a movie monologue and more like a layered protocol stack.

If humanity ever sends a serious message, it should look less like a movie monologue and more like a layered protocol stack.
A real message should start with machine-detectable structure: repetition, countability, ratios, or prime-based framing that signals deliberate organization before any attempt at semantics.
The message should establish units, frames, or invariant relationships before trying to describe chemistry, bodies, or culture. Without reference points, even a beautiful pictorial message can remain opaque.
A serious outbound transmission should be short, repeatable, openly published in advance, and justifiable to more than the team sending it. Protocol is part of the content because legitimacy changes how the act is understood.
