Paradi / Reach-Out Lab: A Cautious Outbound Experiment Plan
If we were forced to sketch a first outbound experiment today, it should be narrow, documented, and designed more as a governance and encoding rehearsal than as a cosmic hail mary.

If we were forced to sketch a first outbound experiment today, it should be narrow, documented, and designed more as a governance and encoding rehearsal than as a cosmic hail mary.
The immediate value of an outbound experiment is not that aliens will reply. The immediate value is that it forces humans to decide who approves the act, what the message contains, how it is archived, and how it is explained publicly.
A cautious trial would publish its design openly, use a minimal and interpretable message format, target a clearly justified direction or class of targets, and document every engineering assumption. The point is legibility and reproducibility.
An outbound experiment today should be treated as a governance, design, and signaling rehearsal. If a real contact event ever arrives, the institutional memory built here would matter more than any fantasy about immediate conversation.
